Description

During KC meeting of 03 Nov the council identified some key sectors where Kubuntu was already being used.
The purpose of this task is to research these sectors and identify organisation, or people with whom we can make contact.
Approach these organisations and ask them for feedback on their experience with Kubuntu, and as them if they would be prepared to provide us with a Case Study.

Sectors and Notes

i've got two responses as of now.

the first contact works for a Russian state-owned enterprise which does construction and maintenance of hydraulic structures. the head and dispatchers of Civil Defense and Emergency Situations Department use a Kubuntu 16.04.03 LTS PC for emailing, various kinds of reporting, and printing on an old HP product that is not supported by modern Window$ OSes, whereas perfectly working with CUPS. next year they may switch one or two more Window$ XP computers to Kubuntu.

the second contact works for two private Russian wholesalers that sell various equipment for public utility infrastructure [supply of water and natural gas, treatment of drinking and waste water, heat networks, ventilation]. all their workstations are under Kubuntu 14.04, servers under Ubuntu Server. They also actively use 1C [one of the most popular business software in Russia], LibreOffice, Firefox, Thunderbird, Zimbra, DraftSight, X2go server. much to their regret, the latter can't work with KDE 5 hence they have to stick with an older version of Kubuntu.
