Update Coming From PS guide

Description

There's a new git with the marketing materials.

You can access it, when using git, with:

git clone kde:others/krita-marketing (if you are already a contributor)

git clone git://anongit.kde.org/others/krita-marketing (if you aren't).

Inside there's a seperate folder 'from PS', with a bunch of images, a markdown file, an sh file, and a bunch of document files.

(If you don't know or like to use git, going from http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=others%2Fkrita-marketing.git to 'tree' and then to 'from PS' should get you to the same folder)

Now, I set up the .sh file to generate the other documents from the markdown file, if you are on linux. The script contains some details of which packages need installing.

The markdown file is the easiest to edit, also with a mind towards git itself.

I did some basic clean-up and did the obvious edits, and here's the state of affairs:

http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=others%2Fkrita-marketing.git&a=blob&h=8fb9f719dfa9ff60f88f090fff3da8b66e69bf4c&f=From%20PS%2FIntroductiontoKritaforusercomingfromPs-4.pdf&o=plain

Todo:

  • Needs read-through, which items are looking good, and which look terrible?
  • Moar pictures. But where?
  • Needs formatting help. This requires more delving into pandoc, but for the epub we can use the krita-style.css. For the PDF I am not sure yet. [DONE]
  • Anything else.

With schemes support, we can provide a "PS-style defaults" scheme to aid the transition.

Yes, raghukamath made a comparison list with ps, might be worth taking that and turning it into a proper sceme.

Will you be merging the canvas input sceme and the keyboard shortuct sceme? I know that you won't be able to do this UI wise, but having both types of shortcuts in the same file would be handy I think?(especially with things like shift for brush resize vs shift for line tool, and alt color picker, etc.)

We might also want to invesigate blender, pt sai, mypaint consistent systems. For the first I can start nagging people on blender artist, mypaint can be something for @Deevad and @timotheegiet... ptsai I'll look into myself.

@abrahams yes it would be good to have a P.S. scheme , I had made a list of features which are common in krita and Ps and their corresponding shortcuts
you can view the list here -> https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RckfJgtTOOrdGARZOqGh2nTbSZnLNq_2y5G2GbMg8c0/edit?usp=sharing

Let me know if I am missing something in the list, as you can see we already have most of the shortcut similar to PS ( where there is a feature overlap) , we can make a P.S. default scheme by changing the few which are different.

I agree with @woltherav for having a centralized place to all shortcut related stuff, this has been a topic of confusion for users who often don't find where is the place to change shortcut for color picker

P.S. And I also have a proposal ( may be a bit too much or far fetched ) for having a shortcut scheme for left handed persons, what do you think?

Here we go, PSstyle shortcuts and input profile. I feel that ideally this would be the same file selected with the same dropdown, but maybe a bit fiddly to program?

I deleted all shortcuts that were Krita native. May have missed some maybe?

(Also, note how input profile doesn't actually load correctly right now in 3.0)

This has been ported to the wiki. Still needs someone to look over.
