New Release
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

We already decided we release a new version and made some required changes in the repo. As I'm still new to these things, I have to ask: What are the next steps?

  • make a tag
  • notification on krusader.org
  • wait for (and help) distribution packagers to add our new version?

Anything else?

I suggest:

And right now we don't have direct access to krusader.org. A new website hosted at KDE and maintained by @stabo is worked on. I don't know how long that will take.

Update: a new (preliminary) website is online (and more important we have full control over it).

How about a new release already at the end of this week?

I'm all for it! Will You take care of the release or should I? :)

I can do it. TODOs:

  • create tar package (with translation) and upload to download.kde.org
  • link to it from krusader.org
  • announce on mailing lists

I still have one pending bug (closed tabs are not removed in config file) and try to fix this before the release

Thanks a lot for making the new release a reality, Alex! You are doing a lot of work including bugzilla, so thanks again!

You're welcome. Many others did a lot work before me - thanks to all of them.

Great work!!! Sorry for not being present lately, but I have some issues with my pc an my work keeps my spare time lower.

From now, I would say to keep track of (almost) all commits in the ChangeLog file and (my opinion) to track all the work for the next release in the TODO file, that should be a faster phabricator workboard.

If not alredy done, write to kde-announce-apps@kde.org the announce release.

From now, I would say to keep track of (almost) all commits in the ChangeLog file and (my opinion) to track all the work for the next release in the TODO file, that should be a faster phabricator workboard.

I have my problems with additional documentation. Right now I'm busy using Bugzilla, Phabricator (also checkout the new wiki page: https://phabricator.kde.org/w/krusader/ ), and Git.

Now when i look at the changelog and git log I realize that the former devs simply used standardized tags for the log messages: FIXES, ADDED, UPDATED, REMOVED.
We could do this again, creating the changelog is simple with it.

But using a plain text file in the repository for TODOs is really inconvenient imo.

If not alredy done, write to kde-announce-apps@kde.org the announce release.

Done now, thanks!
