Check if math tags are rendered correctly
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The problem about the previous version of mw and visualeditor was that when a new page is created and math is inserted the visualeditor didn't visualize the formula. If instead, a page with some math content was edited, then it worked correctly.

With the new version the problem may have been solved.

TODO: try, both on local instance and on .vodka, to:

  • create a new page and immediately insert an inline formula
  • create a new page and immediately insert a block formula
  • edit an existing page without math and try to insert both an inline and a block formula
  • edit an existing page with math and try to to insert both an inline and a block formula

We need an experienced editor person to check with @falitjain what autocompletions should be displayed in the new visualeditor.
So, I'm asking me, @liguorisofia @mbonanomi @ScimmiaSpaziale @davidev and who wants to give a hand.

I remember there was an already written guide on some supported commands, but it's probably better to write down a list. @falitjain please explain with some words, screenshots and links how is it working

To me it's ok. I'd just like to understand better what I have to do and I will be happy to help you

Let's wait for @falitjain or @ire.c to explain it better

@mbonanomi most of the autocompletions are the begin-end autcompletions.

beign : align,

 gather,
 multiline
equation

this could be a great opportunity to document our support of math. Please @falitjain , with the help of @mbonanomi , try all the math environment and document the support on meta. That could be useful also for WikiToLearn: TeXLa

Excuse me, this task was about checking math behavior on new Visual Editor, why we are talking about math support and auto-completion?

You're definitely right, this has nothing to do with the autocompletion. I'm creating a new task

The math formulae are working perfectly for the local instance.

Actually , some problem was recognising the new autocompletions, so may be, that's why we started the conversation here.

The math formulae are working perfectly for the local instance.

So, we can close this task?

I spotted a bug on the local instance.

When a new page is created and a formula is inserted, it is not shown in the editor, but after the save it is there!

Then the formula appears also in the editor.

In case this is still open, we should file an upstream ticket with a proper testcase!

They said me it's a restbase warm-up problem.

OK, so we should mark it as invalid?

Only my "bug"

Let's wait for the staging instance to test it better
