Make Kockatoo Tube more integrated with KDE
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

Possible problems:

  • If you go on tube.kockatoo.org, it's not clear that it's a site by KDE and you get random videos from Peertube we have no control over
  • Content from official KDE accounts isn't differentiated from any video - + you have to search for it to find it

Possible solutions:
to make it obvious it's from KDE:

  • Rename it to something like video.kde.org
  • Change the logo to the KDE logo
  • Add a ⚙️ emoji to accounts handled by Akademy or Promo

to make KDE content more discoverable:

  • on the homepage, feature the
    1. KDE channel
    2. Akademy
    3. the KDE Tips playlist
    4. feed of local videos
  • the recommended "other videos" column should feature videos only from a pre-selected list of instances (ex. video.blender.org)

I don't have an account on kockatoo tube, and I'm not a peertube admin, so if someone knows which of these suggestions is technically possible, please say so.

Is there a possibility that content we don't want there gets featured on kockatoo if it's federate-by-default and we don't have the resources to actively moderate it?

Sorry! I just realised this existed. it does make sense to me. I have root privileges and access to the server. Changing the name may not be possible, but most of the other stuff will. Shall we start with that? I can make you an account, @aronkvh and boost your privileges to admin so you can take an active role.

Thanks, that'd be great. I'll try doing the more basic things.
