@ognarb has made a nearly working theme for akademy drupal (it has its own peculiarities)
probably a good time to look at switching the dot to it?
Carl, is there anything you'll need from our side (Sysadmin that is) to support testing the Dot with the new theme?
The drupal theme is not production ready. I'm struggling with the Drupal 7 theme engine, the documentation is very bad. I still need to add some site specific configuration since akademy.kde.org and dot.kde.org need a different layout.
Could it be possible to create dot-dev.kde.org with a backup of dot.kde.org and give me access to the instance administration?
Related to the latest mail, Drupal 8 will use a complete new theme engine using another templating engine twig. This will mean that we will need to write a new theme again :(
We talked previously I think that upgrading them to 8 would be fine as sites can be swapped over one at a time
The question is: Does it still make sence to continue working on a drupal 7 theme when I will need to start from scratch again with drupal 8?
That is a good question.
Drupal 7 is likely fast headed for deprecation by upstream, so it may be better to focus on Drupal 8 (which is also hopefully better documented) and for us to sort out the relevant migrations and updates to D8 for the D7 instances we run.
Given this isn't too sensitive, I see no reason not to make this public.
I've now added KDE Promo as requested.
There is now a drupal7 theme and to my dismay, it looks like I became the maintainer of it :(
Thanks for all your work on this Carl, it's very much appreciated.
Hopefully we won't be on Drupal 7 for too much longer, given it already has a defined end of life time....
