attempt to sleep after opening kickoff

maybe, just maybe, the problem has to do with kickoff somehow losing events
while still starting up. in the failure logs so far there always was
substantial qml chatter during the potential mouse events. position changes
still shouldn't get "lost" but perhaps waiting is the easiest solution
here
