I can add that too, the add/remove split enables us to have multiple versions in parallel if we ever want that (e.g. for some LTS version), at least once all patches are upstream.

Yes, I was wondering if we will provide several versions in parallel especially since the patches usually only work for one specific release.
But I see the point in a possible future provision of multiple versions.
