**Goal**
Derived from our Promo goals. We want to increase our community and outreach in more countries, including:
- Brand awareness about KDE.
- Increase and engage new contributors.
- Increase the number of end-users.
**What is the KDE Network?**
The KDE Network will be a group of KDE representatives in their respective cities/countries. They promote KDE and it’s work in their local community. Additionally, they are responsible for helping to grow the community, and to act as a liaison between their local community and KDE.
Members of the KDE Network Group are Community Members who have agreed to help promote KDE. They use their knowledge of KDE and their public speaking skills or social networking skills or people skills to help promote KDE.
**What do they do?**
- Participate at local events on behalf of KDE.
- Request marketing material, swag, budget for events.
- Promote KDE, FLOSS, open source projects and cross-community interaction.
- Demonstrate KDE’s products.
- Community outreach and act as a liaison for contributors interested to become part of KDE.
- Promote KDE at local user groups and universities with talks, presentations etc.
- Recruit new contributors.
- Onboarding, mentoring and fostering new users and contributors.
- Report on the activities related to FLOSS in their region.
**Where are we located?**
The KDE Network will take place around the world, initially starting a pilot project in Guwahati, India.

**Meeting Minutes
20 August15 October 2020 **
- Wrishiraj suggested:- We are starting the KDE Network in Kerala, India.
- One-month training for students to reach out to more universities.The KDE Network team in India will include Aiswarya, Kannan, Manav, Sashmita, Subin, Sreeram, and Wrishiraj.
- We should - A separate group for communication is create tutorials for teachingd on Matrix for the KDE Network that will be moved to KDE Instance.
- We should contact students as well as teachers.
- Aiswarya suggested:
- Covid-19 is the biggest challenge in India right nowAwareness about KDE through various programs like:
- Hackathons.
- 4-5 people are interested in joining KDE - Sessions of C++, QML etc.
- Guwahati University can be the first, one - Ties with free software communities in the city to be targetedKerala during their events.
- We should target non-technical universities too. - Get more contributors and users among students.
- Virtual sessions on using different KDE products (Krita, Kdenlive etc.);
- We can have completions to attract more people.
- We should focus on a practical approach rather than a philosophical approach.
- Aishwarya suggested: - Sessions on different ways of contributions.
- To bring more professors on board.
- Try to include references to the KDE community in the textbooks where they teach KDE software.
- Kerala has potential.
- In Kerala, There are a lot of people in the Malayalam translation group who will be interested in joiningGCompris is very popular this can be an opportunity to promote KDE.
- - We can also use Free Software Camp (https://camp.fsf.org.in/) to reach out to more peopleKrita to promote KDE.
- Reaching out to the universities will be the second phase. The first phase is to start the program in India.
- Based on the discussion with Aishwarya and Wrishiraj it was decided to start KDE Network India from a city where we have more contributors The final plan was decided:
- To roll out the program with Free Software Camp.
- Either Bangalore or Kerala will be the first city t - Initially, start remote sessions with Tomaz and Wrishiraj.
- To start the program with FOSS Club.
- We have to focus on contacting people in Bangalore or Kerala who are KDE Contributors - Target educational institutes and non-technical events/forums.
- Wrishiraj and Aishwarya will be part of the KDE Network India.
**Next meeting:** Thursday - Conduct workshops for end-users like teachers, parents, 15etc.
