New community page added to krita.org
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

Add a community page that brings together all the various user communities that Krita has. This is to help not just different websites, but different user communities in different languages.

This idea was inspired by the community page that Blender is using: https://www.blender.org/community/

There are a large listing of sites and communities that discuss things. The communities are broken apart by language. These are the types of things that are included:

  1. User groups (facebook, reddit, etc)
  2. forums
  3. chat rooms (IRC, Discord, Matadon, etc)
  4. stack overflow (Q&A) sites

We will have to get a list of all the things we might want to add, then we can determine how to organize them. I think we also want to determine where to plug this page in. I think to determine "Where" this will go, it helps to think about who is looking for this page...and at what point might they want to look through this. If we only make it a sub-page on krita.org, it is very possible it will just be lost.

I think its useful to "tag" each community as what type of platform form thyeu use (chat vs forum) for future organization. However as a first step separating them by language is prefered.

For the things I want to add is:

  • community name
  • logo of the community if there is one (if not, use placeholder)
  • short description (sent by the person submiting the community)
  • a short lits of tags (language, chat/forum/stack

If we can add the page as a subpage is acceptable, and we could, if feasealbe, showcase a random community on the frontpage on each cache reload. however I do feel this might not be fair , so instead a particular community a showcase "card" of the community section in the main page.

Hey guys, I've been trying to make myself useful and collect everything that I came across. Not active too long in the Krita community, but I've been a long time lurker (started testing about the time of Krita 3).
Here you also find the "usual" links like the funding page since I thought about a general link directory with everything Krita. Sure, only community would be appropriate, but I didn't want to skip something so at least we have good foundation for further discussions what to include and what to leave out.
Also I'm still asking around here and there for international communities that I might not have on my radar, I'll add those later on.

Had some friendly help of @kamathraghavendra and Tiar!
I hope the list helps in any way.

Matrix/Element Chat Room, I started that one together with Tiar. We're in the beginning and need to see how it goes. In general the idea is to use this rather than Discord, because Discord's TOS are not so great and we have an instance of Matrix running on the KDE server.

I think the learning materials should be separate from communities... but in any case, for learning materials scripting.krita.org is a must.

Also krita-artists.org is much more official than reddit (for example feature requests are supposed to go on KA), so it needs to be somehow shown.

There is one more forum for Krita, the KDE forum: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=137

For the matrix rooms, I think it would be good to add the address in more human readable way, too: #krita-users:kde.org .

Thanks for the detailed list!

Socialmedia links are already listed at the bottom of the main page, however after some thought I think its not a bad idea to add them to this community page as some people might miss them in the footer and can discover them in this section.

Im not so sure about adding the manual and the learning materials/tutorials, unless it is managed as a community rather than as a resource. And as tiar said krita-artists.org is more official and from what I think It should be the most prominent of the communities advertised given the oficial nature of it.
